Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front and top surfaces of the tooth. The thin layer of porcelain is able to fix crooked, misshaped, damaged or stained teeth and is virtually undetectable. Veneers can improve the aesthetics of your smile including the size, shape and imperfections of your teeth. They are often used to close a diastema or space between the front teeth.

Peg laterals or small lateral incisors are a common dental anomaly that can easily be corrected with veneers. Teeth that are short, small or worn down may be lengthened for a more appealing smile. Many people have severe staining that can be corrected by dental veneers. Some veneers may require only a conservative preparation or the teeth may be lightly buffed to compensate for the added thickness.

Once the preparation is complete, dental impressions are taken. The impressions are sent to a dental laboratory and your custom veneers are fabricated! A temporary veneer may be placed until your custom porcelain veneer is ready. There are two major types of dental veneers.

Traditional veneers require a conservative preparation, which removes a small portion of the enamel from the surface of the tooth. No-prep veneers do not require any removal from the enamel layer and can be considered reversible. The ultra thin veneer is bonded onto the tooth’s enamel. There are benefits to both traditional and no-prep veneers.
