Advanced Dental Technology

Dr. Raffi invests in tools that sharpen diagnosis and make treatment more comfortable, from 3D imaging that guides implant planning to digital impressions that retire the messy putty tray. Here is a look at the technology you will find in our office.

KODAK 8100 3D CBCT scanner used at Dr. Raffi General & Implant Dentistry

KODAK 8100 3D CBCT Scanner

A complete 3D picture, at a fraction of the radiation.

In a single scan, our KODAK 8100 cone beam CT (CBCT) scanner builds a detailed three-dimensional picture of your teeth, jaw, and the bone that supports them. That depth of detail is what lets Dr. Raffi see exactly where to place a dental implant, how much bone is available, and where a hidden problem like an infection or an impacted tooth might be hiding, all before treatment ever begins.

Because the KODAK 8100 focuses narrowly on just the area we need to evaluate, exposure is reduced to 10 to 30 times less radiation than other dental CT systems, and you can sit comfortably during the scan instead of lying down. For patients, that means a faster, more confident diagnosis with less time in the chair.

TRIOS 3Shape digital impression scanner

No More Goop or Gag

Just a fast, comfortable digital impression.

The TRIOS 3Shape scanner is a state-of-the-art digital impression system that does away with messy putty trays entirely. In just a few minutes, Dr. Raffi can digitally capture a highly detailed 3D model of your teeth and gums, comfortably and accurately.

You can breathe and swallow normally throughout the scan, and pause any time you need to. Most patients find it far more pleasant than a traditional impression, and the resulting 3D model gives us a sharper picture for planning crowns, bridges, and other restorative work.

CEREC same-day dental crown milling system

CEREC® Same-Day Crowns

Dr. Raffi is proud to offer CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics), a revolutionary same-day crown technology. Using 3D photography and CAD/CAM design, Dr. Raffi can design, mill, and place a custom, tooth-colored ceramic crown in a single visit, typically about an hour, with no messy impressions and no temporary crown to wear home.

You can relax comfortably in our office while your permanent restoration is being made just down the hall.

Digital radiography equipment for low-radiation dental x-rays

Digital Radiography

Digital x-rays let us capture and archive dental images while significantly reducing radiation compared to traditional dental x-rays. The technique captures a detailed picture of your teeth and their supporting bone structure and stores it directly on a computer in our office.

You and Dr. Raffi can view your x-rays together moments later, enlarging the image on screen to help identify problems early and build an individualized treatment plan around what we see.

Intra-oral camera for detailed dental imaging

Intra-Oral Camera

About the size of a pen, our intra-oral camera captures close-up digital photos of your teeth and gums that we can pull up right on a screen next to the chair. Seeing what Dr. Raffi sees, a cracked filling, worn enamel, or an area of early decay, makes it much easier to understand a diagnosis and feel confident about the treatment plan we recommend.
