WatchImplant-Supported Bridge

Replacing several missing teeth without touching the ones beside them

Several missing teeth in a row call for a different solution than a single implant, and an implant-supported bridge is the most durable, natural-feeling answer. A traditional bridge requires shaving down the healthy teeth flanking the gap for support. An implant-supported version skips that step entirely, anchoring instead to titanium posts placed directly in the jawbone and leaving your remaining natural teeth untouched.

The procedure is shown here in full. After comfortable numbing, small openings are made in the jawbone and the implants are set in place. Over the following months, bone fuses naturally to each implant through osseointegration, and once that's complete, an extension attaches to each one so impressions can be taken to build a custom bridge, which is then cemented or screwed permanently into position.

The advantages add up. Bone loss that normally follows missing teeth is halted by the implants themselves, the bridge keeps remaining teeth from drifting into the empty space, and no healthy tooth structure has to be cut down to support it. Kept up with good home care and routine checkups, an implant-supported bridge can last a lifetime.

Multiple missing teeth and unsure which route to take? A consultation at Dr. Raffi General & Implant Dentistry is the place to start. We'll plan the case with 3D imaging and walk through whether implants, a traditional bridge, or another approach best matches your situation.
